Bristol celebrates International Women’s Day 2019 – get involved!

Thank you so much to everyone who was involved in the Bristol Women’s Voice International Women’s Day celebration at City Hall on Saturday and for all of you who came along and took part in the day!

But International Women’s Day in Bristol is not over yet and there are many other events happening across the city this week to celebrate and raise women’s voices:

Wednesday 6th March 10am-3pm – International Women’s Day at Filwood Community Centre BS4

International Women’s Day is being celebrated at Filwood Community Centre on Wednesday 6th March 2019. All Women are welcome to come along between 10.00am-3.00pm and join in with lots of FREE Activities, including Dance, Beauty, and Nutrition.


Wednesday 6th March all day – International Women’s Day celebration – Balance for Better at UWE Business School BS16

Including a key note speech from Dr Finn MacKay, Senior Lecturer in Sociology, a panel discussion titled Balance for Better: Achieving your Balance, workshops and more!


Thursday 7th March 1pm-3pm – International Women’s Day 2019 hosted by Hartcliffe and Withywood Thrive @Symes BS13

@Symes foyer, library and Dundry View spaces. To launch the new Thrive Hartcliffe & Withywood group, and to engage with local people to increase awareness and involvement through an event focused around women and women’s health.

Friday 8th March 10am-12pm – International Women’s Day at St Paul’s Learning Centre BS2

Solon South West Housing Association, United Communities and SARI (Stand Against Racism and Inequality) celebrate International Women’s Day with four of Bristol’s 100 most influential women.


Friday 8th March 5pm – Women’s Strike in Bristol march from the Water Fountains in Bristol City Centre BS1

Meet to march together through the centre to stand against rape culture, unpaid reproductive work, LGBTQ+ rights being violated, gender-based violence and fascist movements that threaten human rights.


Friday 8th March 8pm-3am – International Women’s Day Extravaganza at The Exchange BS2

Join a celebration of bad ass wimmin across the globe with the party to end all parties – championing womxn of all shapes and sizes with a killer line-up of live music, drag, DJs and much more. Drum roll please as Punka and Grrrl Crush present an INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY EXTRAVAGANZA!


Saturday 9th March 11am-3pm – Festival of Solutions 2019: It’s All About Women at Hannah Moore Primary School BS2

Up Our Street are inviting women from Easton and Lawrence Hill and beyond to join them to celebrate women, learn from local women activists, talk about women’s issues and think about solutions.


Sunday 10th March 7pm-12am – International Women’s Day gig at Rough Trade BS1

Raising money for St Paul’s Adventure Playground with bands, DJs and a poetry slam.
