Volunteer for Bristol Zero Tolerance!

We regularly offer volunteering opportunities and short-term internship positions.

Current research internship opportunities:

Bristol Zero Tolerance is recruiting for intern positions to work on a range of research projects. The roles are suitable for someone with a passion for women’s rights and addressing gender-based violence, and with an interest and some experience in research. The roles are for between one and two days per week from January to April 2017.

Expenses: Volunteers can claim back expenses for travel and lunch up to a total of £10 per day.

Starting: January 2017

Estimated duration of role: Early April 2017

Estimated time to be volunteered: Up to 2 days per week (can be spread over different days, worked from home and outside of normal working hours if needed).

Hours: 10am-5pm but can be flexible if needed.

Projects covered by the roles:

  • To research the local night time economy sector and explore the possibility of a local accreditation scheme for businesses
  • To research local hotels and develop a tailored approach to send to these businesses and involve them in the Bristol Zero Tolerance initiative.
  • To research local hairdressers and develop a tailored approach to send to these businesses and involve them in the Bristol Zero Tolerance initiative.
  • To research local transport structures and develop a tailored approach to send to these businesses and involve them in the Bristol Zero Tolerance initiative.
  • To research local Trade Associations and develop a tailored approach to send to these organisations to engage their businesses in the Bristol Zero Tolerance initiative.

Skills and Qualifications:

Ideally the volunteers will have some of the following skills, but we are also open to applications from those committed to women’s rights and gender equality that are looking to gain experience:

  • Fluent spoken and written English
  • Commitment to women’s rights and gender equality and addressing gender-based violence
  • Good writing skills
  • Good communication and administrative skills
  • Good time management
  • Ability to work independently
  • Computer literate
  • Previous research experience

There are also a number of ways in which you can support the Bristol Zero Tolerance initiative as an individual or in your workplace:

  • Spread the word about the initiative and encourage your workplace or other organisations to sign up to the pledge and take action
  • Take on the role of gender-based violence champion in your workplace
  • Run a lunchtime workshop with your team or colleagues to raise awareness of gender-based violence and Bristol Zero Tolerance
  • Take part in scoping events with the general public
  • Fundraise for local services and Bristol Zero Tolerance
  • Provide pro bono support to local services in your area of expertise
  • Support our events and campaigns.
