Soroptimists International Weston-super-Mare are once again holding their “Railing against Abuse” event to publicise the United Nations Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women which is on the 25th November each year.
On that day Soroptimists from Weston-super-Mare and a number of other clubs in the region will travel by train to Bristol Temple Meads Station. We aim to meet up at about 12.30pm at the station and from there we will walk through the town to the Lord Mayor’s Chapel at the bottom of Park Street (BS1 5TB). Once there, we will be able to have a light buffet lunch followed by a few presentations from speakers.
We will be wearing something orange, since this is the UN designated colour for the day and along the way we will be distributing “Loves me / Loves me not” bookmarks which highlight indicators of good and bad relationships.
In addition, in the weeks before and after this event, we distribute these bookmarks to schools and elsewhere in the area.
